by Dominic Perry Scottish haulier R&M Chillspeed has gone into liquidation after its bank pulled the plug, but there are rumours that the company has begun trading again under the name Carrycool.

Chillspeed director Ronnie MacKenzie refused to confirm or deny the rumours, but the co-director of another of MacKenzie's firms, Inverness based Flights Express, says that they are true.

When Commercial Motor phoned Chillspeed's Glasgow

offices, this week, the phone was answered both `Carrycool" and "Chillspeed".

One subcontractor phoned Commercial Motor expressing anger at his likely loss of money while the directors seemed to be continuing in business under a different name.

R&M Chillspeed was one of the country's success stories, running 16 refrigerated artics and employing about 45 subbies. It has gone belly-up after several weeks of problems. It had been factoring money in a

bid to pay off its debts—unci firmed rumours suggest it mil have gone for Dm.

Chillspeed had several st sidiary companies including K Transport and Bellwo Transport in Rotherham, both which have now closed.

CM was first alerted Chillspeed's problems seve weeks ago, when an ex-subc( tractor complained to us o‘ allegedly late payments.

MacKenzie says he "absolutely devastated" by I closure and hopes that all I company's creditors will rece at least some of their money.

But some subcontract( are owed several thousa pounds and are not hopeful ever seeing their cash.

One comments: "I'm r holding my breath—I'm st posed to get a cheque Friday so I've got to hang there for something." He SE that most other subcontract( are in the same boat.
