THE FIRST of Greater Manchester Transport's fleet of 20 Dennis Domino midihuses are now in service on the Centreline route in central Manchester.
(;MT's Dominos, which have Perkins 6.354 engines mounted transversely at the rear and have Avon Maxwell gearboxes, are bodied by Northern Counties (part-owned by GMT) and replace II-year-old Seddon midibuses.
The first was exhibited, without an engine and gearbox, at the 1984 Motor Show, but has only now entered service. One has been repainted in London Buses livery and is to be tested for three months on a North London service.
