county councils of Durham and Northumberland, are being recommended to carry out a survey of transport. Among other things, the proposed survey will report on the effects of the closing of the Tyneside electric train services; the present use of all types of transport in the area; the possibilities of mono-rail and hovercraft transport systems; and the subsidization of rail transport by local authorities in the United States and Western Germany.
