THE Road Haulage Association's annual conference takes place at ,Torquay from October 9-11.

The business sessions will be held in the Palace Hotel and will include talks on "Rail into Roads," by Angus Dalgleish, with a response from a British Rail representative; "Government Transport policy" by Junior Transport Secretary Lynda Chalker; and "Industry Development Day" — a report on a maximum-weight artic study by Richard Booth.

These will be followed by the director-general's report and the opportunity for members to discuss the subjects covered.

There will be syndicated sessions on training requirements in the future, the new RHA structure, and the standards of after-sales service.

Lynda Chalker will also be the speaker at the business luncheon on Saturday, October 9.
