nNE of the exhibits of BonaHack and

Sons Ltd. at the Commercial Motor Show will be a refrigerated van semitrailer built for Miller and Skoulding Ltd., of March. Cambs, the newest member of the Amber Group of companies. It will be the third such unit produced for this company by Bonahack Mann Egerton, two already being in service on Miller and Slsoulding's expanding collection, storage and distribution of perishable pharmaceutical products and frozen foods in Britain and on the Continent.

The semi-trailers operate from the U.K. to Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands, typ:cal loads being meat outwards to Italy and various perishables on return. In this country they are hauled by E.R.F. tractive units with the Gardner 6LX diesel engine 6-speed overdrive gearbox and Eaton 19802 two-speed axle with electric shift.

Light alloy is used for the framing and .panelling of these T1R semi-trailers, which are mounted on Highway Trailers tandem-axle running gear. The doubleframed body has 5 in. of polystyrene insulation with foamed polyurethane for bedding the joints, and a temperature of —10°F can be maintained in an ambient temperature of 85°F. A Thermo-King Kt. 20 refrigeration unit is used, this being adapted to draw alternative current from a ship's supply en route.

Each van has a capacity of 1,370 cu. ft. and is 27 ft. long by 8 ft. wide and 13 ft. 1. in. high, maximum payload capacity being 13 tons. The body floor is in plywood with alloy checker-plate superimposed and seam-welded to provide a waterproof base to the interior. Three longitudinal meat rails are fitted, while two full-width insulated rear doors are mounted on B.M.E. patent adjustable hinges.

The outfits were supplied through Sellers and Batty of Peterborough.
