COLLOWING representations by 1. haulage c9ntractors in the NorthEastern Region, with -reference to -the holders of C-licences carrying goods for hire or reward under the war-time relaxation of restrictions on such operators, the Regional Transport Commissioner has promised investigation of any detailed complaints that traffic is being carried on C-licence vehicles which could be carried by hauliers.

A letter from the Commissioner's headquarters to operators' organizations in the Region states that the subdistrict managers will be prepared to investigate such cases upon receipt of detailed information ,from hauliers, whether they be affected themselves or are in possession of facts bearing on other hauliers.

It is also pointed out that economy in the use of fuel, tyres, etc., must, in certain cases, involve the use of Clicensed vehicles for hire-or-reward traffic. It is further stressed that if such a vehicle be carrying an outward load of essential goods belonging to its owner, it should not be permitted to return empty.
