• Former trial area city, Hereford, will get a new network of high-frequency minibuses, operated by Midland Red West on 23 April.
Since the trial area started, competition in the city has been fierce and Midland Red West wants to "hit its competitors hard" though the company stresses that this does not include Yeomans, which has been operating local services alongside Midland Red West for some time.
Running under the name Hereford Hopper, 25 Mercedes 709Ds with Reeve Burgess 20-seat bodywork will operate on 12 routes. The vehicles are fitted with Telma retarders and are in a yellow, green and orange livery. Frequencies will vary between every six minutes and hourly, with most services being every 10 minutes.
Recruiting the 35 extra drivers for the new service has been a problem, says the company, which has further plans for expansion in Hereford.
