Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• York has just launched two new Thermostar refrigerated trailers.

The first, designated the Thermostar 250, is a 12.2 metre long, high-cube trailer, with a 75m3 load volume. It is designed to give TIR hauliers maximum internal loadspace within the overall four-metre Continental height limit.

Thermostar 250 models are available with either tandem, or tri-axle chassis, with the neck forward of the landing legs built into the trailer body floor. This has allowed York to increase the interior height of the 250 by 110mm to 2.5 metres.

Although the 250 is intended primarily for TIR work, York can also supply the trailer with a 2.6 metre interior height for operations within the higher British 4.2 metre height limit. York quotes a kerbweight of 8,500kg for a tri-axle Thermostar 250 with air suspension and fridge. Prices range from 24,000 to .E40,000.

York has also produced a multi-compartment version of the Thermostar, the Thermostar HI. It features a single fridge and evaporator, which supplies chilled or warm air to up to three separate compartments through roof ducts.

This does away with the need for three separate evaporators, improving overall loading heights, and keeping all the major fridge components at the front of the trailer.

All temperature control and air circulation is carried out by a micro-processor-based pushbutton control module, mounted at the front.

Each compartment is separated by an insulated bulkhead, which swings to the roof on gas-operated struts.

An air-suspended tandemaxle Thermostar 111 with fridge units weighs around 7,000kg; insulated rear roller shutters are available as extras_
