AT Easter, the Omnibus Passengers'

, Protection Association enrolled its 100,000th member, a testimony to the public's appreciation of the work done by this body in opposition to the proposed northern area scheme and nationalization generally.

A branch has been set up at Whitley Bay, where the speaker at a public meeting on Wednesday was Mr. Horace A. Morgan, chairman of the National Union of Ratepayers' Associations.

Art action committee of 12 members is being set up in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch to resist any effort to nationalize the local passenger transport services. This decision was taken by delegates from 38 local organizations. i The committee will form part of the south-western branch of 0.P.P.A.

LONDON CHARGES SCHEME

HEARING of the British Transport 'Commission's application to introduce a new interim passenger charges scheme for London will be started by the Transport Tribunal at Church House, Westminster, on May 9.
