• Scalia has attacked the proposed changes in lifting-axle regulations as "ambiguous and ill-considered". Under the projected legislation operators running tractive units with lifting tag axles would not be able to lift the axle from January 1991, and manufacturers would not be able to build such vehicles after January 1993. Scania also plans to extend the availability of Bosch EDC electronic fuel management beyond the current 143-70 tractor to its 336kW (450hp) and 298kW (400hp) models. The Swedish truck maker will also offer the option of a two-spring bogie on its 6x4 and 8x4 rigid chassis next year and possibly a 269kW (360hp) version of its eight-legger.
