Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AS established operators, companies in the Yorkshire Pool had it legitimate interest in services to Torquay, it was stated in Leeds on Tuesday. We have committed ourselves to an application for a new series of licences from points in Yorkshire to Torquay," said Mr. W. R. Hargreaves. "We have not crept in by the side door" Mr. Hargreaves was representing the Pool in their appeal against the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners' refusal to grant them Torquay licences. Operators in the Pool are West Riding Automobile Services, Ltd., West Yorkshire Road Car Co.. Ltd., Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Co., Ltd., Yorkshire Traction Co., Ltd., East Yorkshire Motor Services, Ltd., and East Midland Motor Services, Ltd.

Appeals were also lodged by Hebble Motor Services, Ltd., and Yelloway Motor Services, Ltd. (operating jointly). -Further appeals, against the granting of Torquay licences to Wallace Arnold (Tours), Ltd., J. W. Kitchin and Sons. Ltd., Bradford, and Hanson's Buses, Ltd., Huddersfield, were supported by British Railways.

Winding up the case for the Yorkshire Pool after a six-day hearing. Mr. Hargreaves said they were seeking to clarify their position.

"We have a properly constituted service to Birmingham and from there to the south coast, linked with Associated Motorways," he said. "The Minister has never said the Pool Services are not established operators along this route."

Mr. F. D. Walker, for Yelloways and Hebble, said that in the light of the history of Torquay traffic, and from the evidence as a whole, it seemed the Commissioners had misled themselves in arriving at the conclusions they did.
