Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN IRISH judge has threatened to impose driving bans on hauliers who ferry waste to illegal landfill sites.

Judge Flann Brennan made the threat at Carrickmacross District Court in Co Monaghan last week.

He was hearing a case involving illegal dumping of builders' waste at Magheracloone,Co Monaghan.

Charges against truck driver Declan Mullen, of Smithboro, Co Monaghan, were adjourned after he admitted collecting a trailer by the N3 and taking it to the site. Irish Road HaulageAssociation spokesman Jimmy Quinn supported Judge Brennan's remarks.

"The people who are taking these shortcuts are embarrassing people doing the job properly and should not be encouraged." said Quinn.

Phil Flanders, Road Haulage Association Manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland, said illegal dumping was a serious problem, but added that he had reservations about taking a blanket approach to the problem.
