Me will never know whether the Di-vastating revelations of Major James Hewitt had anything to do with it, but the Lifeguards are being turfed out of their lovenest at Buckingham Palace and replaced by the Queen's own Royal Truckers, otherwise known as No 1 0 Transport Regiment of the Royal Logistic Corps.
The Colchester-based regiment has taken over duties changing the guard in recognition of the 200th anniversary of the raising by Royal Warrant of the first army transport unit, the Royal Waggoners. The drivers will mount 48-hour guards until the end of this month when, no doubt, they'll be glad to get back behind a wheel.
