• Securicor TrakBak will demonstrate its stolen vehicle tracking system at the Birmingham Motor Show this week. An interactive display will be shown on the Vauxhall stond—Vauxhall offers TrakBak as an option on all models. The system raises the alarm immediately a vehicle is moved illegally and movements are tracked using computerised Ordnance Survey maps.
• TIP Trailer Rental has acquired Dutch trailer rental company Contrail. The deal gives TIP an additional 600 trailers in the Netherlands and more depots across the country.
• Newbury Buses will be the first bus company to introduce a natural gas powered bus. The first vehicle—a Rover vee-eight-powered 25seater Optare Metroridergoes into service today (20 October). Newbury Buses hopes to add three more gas powered vehicles to its fleet next year.
