Trucks and arlics

While September had been a quiet month for truck registrations, October saw a bounce-back in monthly year-on-year growth. All truck registrations were up by 9.9% in October, and 7.5% up for the year to date. Rigids were up 10,3% for the month, and up 4.3% year-to-date, while registration of attics was up 9.3% in October and 14.5% on yearto-date figures.

Oaf Trucks continues to lead the table in terms of registrations. but Mercedes-Benz performed particularly well in October, registering 1.123 trucks compared with only 791 this time last year.

Year-to-date information shows Oaf leads the way, registering 10,053 trucks so far, up from 9,495 this time last year. Mercedes comes second in this race, and Iveco is third.

Light commerdals

Registration figures so far suggest van manufacturers are going to beat the all-time record of 298.836 light commercials registered in 1989: SIVMT members reckon the total might hit 303.000 by the end of this year.

Van registrations to 1.8 tonnes (not covered in our graphs) were up 14% in October, with a year-to-date growth of 11.6%. Medium vans saw a rise of 10.4% in October, which represents 33.5% year-to-date, while heavy van year-on-year growth was 4% for the month and 13.1% year-to-date.

Ford retained its number-ore place, registering 5.044 vans of 1.8-3.5 tonnes, up from the 4,855 registered in October fast year. Mercedes-Benz claims second position, registering 2,036 vans, an increase of 59 units over 2002's figures,

Year-to-date, Ford takes top spot, registering 60,313 vans, up 10,823 on last year's figures, while Mercedes-Benz, in second place, has also seen year-to-date registrations rise by 1,176 on last year's registrations. to 18,462.
