Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Emma Penny sees Iveco shoulder up to the competition in the urban artic market.

IVECO IS LAUNCHING a 4x2 Eurocargo urban artic for inner-city distribution— and already has some units with breweries in the UK.

The move will see Iveco enter a market which Mercedes has recently taken an interest in with its Atego urban artic (CM 2 October). The Italian manufacturer says it intends to offer competition to other manufacturers such as Volvo. Da f and MAN, all of whom are already in this sector.

The Eurocargo urban artic is plated to operate at up to 23 tonnes, and is powered by a 5.9-litre Iveco Tector engine, which is capable of producing up to 240hp at 2,700rpm and 810Nm of torque between 1,250 and 2,10Orpm,driven through a six-speed Eaton gearbox.

A special vehicle option model. it's built to work in conjunction with ultra-low deck trailers. ideally suited to the brewery trade. However, Iveco says it can also be used for general urban distribution and as a lightweight trunking vehicle.

Two Eurocargo urban artics are already out on the road— and three in the old shape Cargo. A further two are expected to go into service soori. All are with breweries.

Available with a day cab, the urban artic has a wheelbase of 2,632mm and a fifth wheel height of 1,043mm (unladen). Pricing has yet to be finalised.

Besides launching the urban artic. Iveco also has its UK-spec Eurocargo range on test — we'll bring you our opinion on it in a couple of weeks' time, following on from our exclusive UK roadtest on the Italian-spec truck (CM 9 October).

The company is also launching the UK spec of the smaller brothers of the Stralis, the Active Time (AT) and Active Day (AD); more in next week's CM.
