Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I hear that the LDoY committee is looking around for a new venue for the 1978 final. It's not generally known, but the Committee pays both for the use of the Army site at Bramcote and for the services of the -volunteer" soldiers. This year I understand someone at Bramcote suggested that they should not take cash. "Great," thought the committee, "that should save a few pounds." But, alas, no.

"Why not give us a new minibus instead?" said the Army chap. The reply would scorch my page.

Anyway, the long and short of it is that the LDoY settled for more than the committee wanted to and the Army for less — very much less. So the final goes on at Bramcote on September 11. Next Year's • venue has yet to be settled, but I understand a decision will be made on August 12. It's a safe bet it will not be at Bramcote.

It took less time to decide who will present this year's prizes at the 1977 final. Various names were mentioned. There was a Duke, a Cabinet minister, an Opposition MP, a trade union leader, then came the man. Last year's champion, George Allott, of BOC has to be asked along to do the honours.

Yes, it's a fine gesture, what better than the reigning champion handing over his crown to his successor. There's only one small snag, what if George does it again? Oh, well, I suppose they could ask a Duke, a Minister, an Opposition MP or a trade union leader.
