Lifting Trolley for Large Tyres

TO assist wheel changing on commercial vehicles, Mann Egerton and Co., Ltd., Cromer Road Works, Norwich, manufacture a lifting .trolley capable of handling the largest wheels. The trolley consists of a tubular steel base frame mounted on two wheels and two castors.

The base carries a hydraulic lifting mechanism which raises two tubular prongs fitted with rotating sleeves. In operation, the trolley is pushed under the jacked-up wheel and the prongs are raised to contact the tyre.

The wheel nuts are then removed and the trolley is pulled out bringing the wheel with it which, when clear of the studs, is tilted back on to a support rail attached to the base frame. This proce

dure is reversed to replace the wheel and the rotating sleeves on the lifting prongs permit the wheel to be turned to line up with the studs.
