Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

iTANDARD Morris LCFO 2-ton wward-control chassis with 58 oil engine has been converted by rs of Andover (1932), Ltd., to form ne mover suitable for gross train ts of up to 7 tons, giving a payload, 18-ft.-platform semi-trailer, of ximately 4 tons.

Taskers 3-5-ton D.S. atitomatic ng, which was introduced at the iercial Motor Show last year, is oyed. This is the only model in the it B.M.C. range to which this ng is fitted. The chassis has been ied by shortening the wheelbase by to 8 ft.; removing the rear crosser and the central A-bracing and a special cross-member; fitting a T propeller shaft; and using r, higher-rate rear springs.

: standard vehicle braking system is :red, except that the hydraulic t now includes a reaction valve for )1 of the tractor-mounted vacuum servo which actuates the semi-trailer brakes through the coupling linkages. An innovation is. a steering-columnmounted control lever whereby the semitrailer brakes may be power-applied independent of the tractor brakes.

Although the 3-5-ton D.S. coupling is similar in principle to the 6-12-ton coupling described in The Commercial Motor on May 16, 1958, a recent change is the .addition of a vacuumoperated coupling-release control, this also being available on the larger coupling. The coupling gear itself

includes such safety features as a doublelocking cam to ensure safe engagement of the coupling hooks.

The tractor has 6.50-16-in. (8-ply) tyres (twins at the rear), and weighs 1 ton 171 cwt. complete with cab and coupling.
