"THREE Dennis Loline 72-seaters have been put into service by Leigh Transport Department. and a fourth is to he acquired. The vehicles have Gardner engines and East Lancashire bodywork. The department are now able to vie equally with the Lancashire United Transport Co., Ltd., with whom they took over the joint operation of an abandoned trolleyhus route, The company were able to put Leyland 72-seaters, of the high-bridge type, into service, but the department were restricted by the existence of a low entrance to their garage and two bridges with insufficient clearance. The new vehicles are 13 ft. 4 in, high.
BIG ORDERS FOR ATLANTEAN
REPEAT orders for the rear-engined, IX double-deck Leyland Atlantean continue. Latest contracts are for 120 vehicles, valued at nearly £500,000. Earlier orders have totalled 350 buses. Operators who have placed recent orders include the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., Maidstone and District Motor Services, Ltd., and East Midland Motor Services', Ltd.
