Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Simon Access has won a £7 million order from the Ministry of Defence for the design and production of 20 special purpose, air transportable Rapid Intervention Vehicles. Simon will produce two prototypes before starting production of the remaining 18.

The specification requires that the vehicle can operate in extreme climates ranging from -30°C to +55°C and has a high degree of corrosion resistance. The vehicle is based on Simon's Protector RIV, but the MoD vehicle will have a lighter chassis with 2,275-litre water carrying capacity and 275 litres of foam.

Axle loadings will be designed to fit the capacity of the Hercules transporter aircraft cargo floor.

Power for the 4x4 chassis is likely to come from a Detroit Diesel engine, driving through an Allison automatic gearbox.
