Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AA AY'S exports of commercial al vehicles, including dumpers and dump trucks, industrial trucks and trailers, set up a new .record in value. The average weekly output was slightly lower than in April, but substantially higher thadin March.

During May, 20,865 commercial ' vehicles were produced (5,216 a week), compared with 21,557 units in April (5,389. a .week); 13,470 were for export and 7,395 for the home market.

During the month, 19,794 goods :vehicles, road e haulage tractors and special types . of vehicle were built, 'of which 9,289 had a arryitig capacity of under 15 cwt., 9,536 of 15 cwt. to 6 tons, and 969 over 6 tons. The 970 motorbuses and trolleybuses built consisted of 766 single-deck and 197 double-deck motorbuses and seven trolleybuses.. Battery-electrics totalled 101.

The first five months of the year saw 111,044 commercial vehicles constructed, of which 70,757 were for overseas and 40,287 for home users. Goods vehicles, road haulage tractors and special vehicles (105,813) were divided as follows:-Under 15 cwt.. 51,183; 15 cwt, to 6 tons. 50,391; over 6 tons, 4,239.

Altogether 3,532 single-deck and 1,127 double-deck motorbuses and 59 trolleybuses were built, making a total of 4,718. Battery-electrics swelled the total production by 513 units.

In addition, 180 pedestrian-controlled vehicles were built in the first five months of the year.

Export figures reveal a healthy situation. Shipmentseof commercial vehicles in May, excluding dumpers and dump trucks and industrial trucks, for which the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has no figures, but including trailers, numbered 12,913 units, compared with 13,458 in April. The value of exports, including.durnpers and dump trucks and industrial trucks, has, however, risen from £6,786,916 in April to £6,966,388 in May.

During the first five months of the year, the number of units shipped, excluding dumpers and dump trucks and industrial trucks, was 61,507 and the value, including dumpers and indus

trial trucks, was £29,912,034. Apart from new vehicles, 1.308 used commercial vehicles (£799,091), 47,241agricultura! tractors (£16,707,719) and parts , and accessories to the value of £29,500,062 were shipped.
