Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

pAY increases for 60,000 municipal passenger transport workers, offered by the employers, were approved by union delegates on Monday. They have yet to be ratified by the National oint Council.

Drivers are willing to accept a rise of lls. a week and conductors 10s. The drivers' new minimum weekly rate is proposed to be £6 3s. and £6 6s. after 12 months, and the conductors minimum £5 I8s. and £6 ls. after 12 months.

Proposed increases for inside staffs are: Grade 1, gs. 6d. (f6 2s. minimum); grade 2, Ss. 6d. (is 17s. 6d.); grade 3, 7s. 7d. (£5 12s. 6d.). The Cameron award giving an extra 7d. an hour for work after 1 p.m. on Saturdays is rescinded.

Conductors under training are, it is suggested, to receive 90 per cent. of the new rate. Women replacing men will get equal pay, instead of 90 per cent. for the first six months.

These increases were negotiated by the Transport and General Workers' Union and the General and Municipal Workers' Union. Yesterday, the Unions concerned were due to meet representatives of company undertakings and it is understood that negotiations with the London Transport Executive will be held soon.
