Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

On Tuesday last a demonstration of the Kuka refuse-collector (made by the British Kuka Co., Ltd.) was given at Kensington to the local publiccleansing authority, a machine being put on the ordinary house-to-house round. Readers will remember that this machine incorporates a revolving cylindrical container, housed in a steel shell, provided with internal helical vanes and fed from the rear.

The rotation shifts the contents to the front, to some extent consolidating it, during loading and (when the direction is reversed) discharges the refuse.

An accompanying illustration shows the machine—with an Albion chassis as its basis—during the demonstration, but the latest type differs from it in that it incorporates a larger, 15-cubicyd., body comprising a 12-i-cubic-yd. revolving container and a 24-cubic-yd. iron-lined compartment, behind the cab, for large items of refuse.

The new body will be available on a number of forward-control chassis. At the figure quoted to us of E1,250, we understand that the chassis will be a Crossley Delta 3-4-tonner. Inquiries should be addressed to Messrs. D. G. Hall, 19, Adam Street, London, W.C.2.
