The bulk of the order. supplied by Vales Truck Centre of Watford is for 78 Leyland Daf 400 3.6m chassis.

These have Portland Bodies dropside bodies with bolsters for cable-carrying conduits plus tool containers for the site tools.

The remaining nine newcomers are new-generation 85-300 eight-leggers,equipped with McGovern steel tipper bodies and back-of-cab Palfinger grabloaders for removing trench spoil.

"We operate a fleet of nearly 550 vehicles of various types," says Fitzpatrick's transport manager John Mahoney. but we're impressed by Leyland Dots service back up."
