Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The comments of "a fed up operator(CM, December 9) are indicative of the need for representative organisations of the haulage industry as a whole, who will "fight" for their members' rights effectively and with determination and not just talk and talk to no effect, as do some.

I am a member of such an organisation, and invite your "fed up operator" to join us, together with any other operators, owner-drivers and indeed drivers, who are opposed to (a) the introduction and/or implementation of tachographs; (b) the inadequate international permit quota; (0 the continuous legislation which Brussels is forcing on us, resulting in escalating costs, restriction of earnings, increasing inflation, etc; (d) the deliberate curtailment of exports from the UK to Europe with British hauliers by the Brussels bureaucrats.

As you reported, we meet weekly in Barking and are known as the International Hauliers Federation, and invite all operators and owner-drivers to join us in our fight Contact with other operator/ driver organisations would also be welcomed.

International drivers and UK drivers are also invited to take up "free" membership of an organisation which will fight for their right to work without the permission of Brussels, without the need for work permits, without being controlled by "tech" machines, without consultation and agreement.

The transport industry is the lifeblood of the people of Britain and the world, the lifeblood of this country's and the world's exporters and the lifeblood of the economy of the world. Without us there is no economy.

Conservationists say we don't need lorries. We know they do, or they die, as do we all. No lorries means no food, power, raw materials, etc.

Now is the time for action to abolish permits and resist tachographs. Join us and add your strength to ours, because united we are the only ''paralysis'' to be truly feared by the Government.

Thank you, CM, for your
