Promising Outcome of a Meeting Called by the Motor Hirers' and Coach Services Association AMEETING of delegates from independent bus proprietors' associations, convened by the Motor Hirers' and Coach Services Association, was held in London on January 13th, with a view to the formation of a National Advisory Council of Public-service Vehicle Owners' Associations. A subcommittee was formed to frame rules and a further meeting was arranged for February 10th, when it is hoped to take

steps to form the council. It was generally aceepted that the council be formed under the auspices of the Motor Hirers' and Coach Services Association. Mr. M. Logette, of that body, was elected chairman for this initial conference.

The objects of the council were pro visionally determined as follow :—(1) To promote and protect the national interests of in-dependent public-servicevehicle owners in all matters arising out of existing and future legislation, and (2), to support and confirm the Motor Hirers' and Coach Services Association as the national instrument of representation of independent public-servicevehicle owners.

It was tentatively arranged that an association must have 20 members before it can send a delegate to the coun. cil, but that the council should have discretionary power to admit a delegate where, under special conditions and circumstances, it might be impossible to create an association of so many as 20 members. An association having from 20 to 49 members will send one delegate, an association of 50 members two delegates, and one extra delegate will be sent for every further 50, or part of 50, members. No association will be able to send more than six delegates. Each association will, for the first year, contribute £10 per delegate.

The representatives present at the initial meeting were :.--The Motor Hirers' and Coach Services Association (a sub-committee comprising Messrs. M. Logette, J. H. Lowe, F. A. Ffin, C. Dobbs, A. Kekey and A. E. Tapper), The Brighton Motor Coach Owners' Association (Mr. B. R. Roberts), The Avon Valley. Motor Omnibus Proprietors' Association (Messrs. B. Thomas and R. Hodges), The Medway District Bus Owners' Association (Messrs. H. Bands and E .W. Barty), Mansfield and

District Omnibus Owners' Association (Messrs. E. Hobson and R. H. Kerslake), Northern Road Transport Owners' Association, Ltd. (Messrs. J. Allen and A. N. Brown), Northampton Commercial Motors Association (Messrs. P. Nightingale and A. W. Michin) and Midland Area Bus Owners' Association

(Mr. C. B. jenkins and Lt.-Commander C. J. Pearse, R.N.V.R.).

Communications in respect of the new council should be addressed to Mr. D. Piercy, honorary secretary of the M.H.C.S.A., at 72, Great. Portland Street, London, W.1 .(Telephone, Museum 3770).
