• Britain's youngest trainee lorry driver is 19-year-old Katie Young (pictured), She was presented with her provisional LGV driving licence by Road Safety Minister John Bowis at the launch of the Young LGV Driver Training Scheme, which allows young drivers to go for their LGV licences From 18 instead of the usual 21. It's run by the Road Haulage & Distribution Training Council. Young joined international haulier European Express of Erith, Kent as a Modern Apprentice a year ago; she is following in the footsteps of her father, Don, and boyfriend, Mike, who are both truck drivers.
