• An announcement that the North Riding County Council is prepared to subsidize rural bus services in approved cases for a six-month trial period has brought hopes to many isolated North Riding villages.
Figure recommended is 25 per cent of any loss incurred and is subject to approval of the Ministry of Transport. It is hoped the Ministry will make a 50 per cent contribution with the remaining 25 per cent coming from the district council in whose area the particular service operates.
