DEL1VERY vans of the pedestriancontrolled type of not more than 8 cwt. unladen and fitted with twin front or rear wheels have hitherto been taxed at £10 per annum as fourwheeled goods vehicles. The new rate will be £3. Owners should ask for an amending slip (RF1/2A) in addition to the ordinary form (RF 1/2), obtainable only from local taxation offices.
For a long time the situation regarding these vans has been vague. Some licensing authorities charged £2, others £10. Much of the credit for the change must go to the Harborough Construction Co., Ltd., Market Harborough. Leicestershire, in conjunction with Silent Transport, Ltd., 26, Courtenay Road, Woking, Surrey, which fought out the matter with the Ministry of Transport, and even went to the extent of consulting a K.C. on the matter.
