AN ex-prisoner of war, who was blinded and lost both hands when an ammunition dump blew up, was granted a licence to run a 5-ton lorry and trailer by the North-western Deputy Licensing Authority, at Blackburn, on December 13. He will be assisted by his brother.
Blackburn Hauliers Association did not oppose the application and promised to give the applicant all possible help. Three local concerns also undertook to pass their surplus work to him. The application was npposed by the railways.
Granting the application, the Deputy Authority said: " is the duty of this country to help these men and give them an opportunity of making themselves useful citizens. I wish the applicant every success."
