Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WALTER ALEXANDER (Coachbuilders) has won a £5.87m export order from Singapore Bus Services, its largest ever order by value.

It is for 400 double-deck body kits to be supplied over 18 months starting late this year, and according to Alexander's joint managing director, Ray Braithwaite, it will secure employment for the 660 employees who remain at the company's Falkirk factory. Half of the bodies are to be fitted to Leyland Atlantean AN68/2R chassis (CM, July 2), the other 200 to Mercedes-Benz 0305 underframes. A prototype Singapore Mercedes, with Scottish-assembled Alexander Rtype body, was exhibited at the Motor Show in Birmingham last year, and a second has been built for service with Kowloon Motor Bus in Hong Kong.

• There was an error in the paragraph on Alexander's on our guide to coaches in Britain on p30 of CM, August 6. The firm is based at Falkirk and its dualpurpose coach is the TE-type. Its P-type bus body is to be launched very soon.
