Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

manufactured by the Tractomotive Corporation, Findlay, Ohio, has been specially designed for the new Allis-Chalmers H.D.5.G tractor, and is available from the sole distributor in the United Kingdom. Mackay Industrial Equipment. Ltd.. Feltham, Middlesex.

The Tracto-Shovel combines the digging power of an excavator with the. mobility of a crawler tractor, the 10.080 lb. drawbar pull being applied to the point of excavation. The excavating bucket has a struck capacity. of 1 cubic yd. The hydraulic system, supplied by a front-mounted pump, consists of two double-acting lift cylinders mounted on a rigid beam, and two double-acting dumping cylinders mounted on a frame supporting the boom assembly. The shovel side frames have been utilized as hydraulic oil reservoirs with a holding, capacity of 25 gallons.

The positive downward pressure of the double-acting lift cylinders enables the Tracto-Shovel to excavate to a depth of 10 ins, below ground surface. and the upward pressure gives the bucket a maximum ground clearance of 11 ft. 4 ins, with a clear loading height

of 7 ft. 2 ins. When the bucket is 510

raised the upward movement of the lifting cylinders, and the held position of the dumping cylinders, cause the bucket to tilt backwards automatically, thus avoiding any spilling of the load. The weight of the Tracto-Shovel is

5,250 lb., the total weight of the machine being 16,500 lb.

An example is being demonstrated in this country with the Ministry of Works-organized Exhibition of Builders' Plant and Powered Hand Tools.
