Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Hyject, an Inexpensive Apparatus for Boosting a Low-pressure Mains Supply

OPERATING at a pressure of 100 lb. per sq. in., a new water pump,

costing only £4 Os. 6d., and expressly designed for vehicle washing, has recently been introduced by Benton and Stone, Ltd., Bracebridge Street, Birmingham, 6. Known as the Hyjeet, the pump is worked by foot power, discharges through a jet on the end of a short length of hose and draws its supply from a bucket, or other suitable receptacle, fed with water from the main.

It is claimed that only a relatively gentle pressure is needed on the pedal, whilst the efficiency of the apparatus is attributed to the 5-in, head provided by a compressed-air vessel. This can be raised by about a dozen strokes and thereafter maintained without undue effort. A pistol trigger controls the jet orifice and can be locked in either the off or' on position.

This pump should exactly fill the requirements of operators in districts where the main water supply_ is at a low pressure, and whose fleets are not large enough to warrant the installation for washing purposes of a more elaborate power-operated water-pumping plant.
