Operations director joins Hanson Transport

HANSON Transport, the familyowned Huddersfield business which shares directors with Lord Hanson's Hanson Trust, has made Rod Burns its operations director.
He joins the company after eight years with Ryder Truck Rental and longer sales, marketing and transport management experience.
His career at Ryder took him from a post as Manchesterbased transport consultant selling contract hire and managing existing accounts on to become Sheffield branch manager, then "London North" district manager covering the Midlands and Home Counties, and for the past 15 months he was accounts executive responsible for dealings with Ryder's major fleet users.
His role at Hanson centres on expansion plans for Hanson, which is seeking new customers as well as planning to improve the service it offers its existing contract hire customers.
It already provides vehicles for ICI, Phillips Petroleum and BP Chemicals, and provides vehicles (without drivers) for the House of Fraser's Midlands operation based at Manchester and covering stores between Skipton and South Wales.
