ANOTHER tussle on Tyneside between municipal and private enterprise reached its final stage on April 14th, when Mr. F. 0. Langley,: an inspector of the Ministry of ,Transport, commenced an inquiry at .Newcastle into the appeal lodged by. the Northern General Transport Co„ Ltd., of Chester-le-Street, and the General Motor Services, also of Chester-le-Street, against the refusal of the Newcastle Corporation to grant licences for their vehicles to run into Newcastle over the High Level Bridge, from Gateshead. The application of the Northern Co. was concerned with 80 licences, and that of the other company with 11 licences.
