Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALTHOUGH it is well known amongst a large circle of users of the JB4 engine it should be stated for the benefit of those who do not know that the Associated EquiPment Co., Ltd., of Walthamstow, E.17, hold huge stocks (probably the largest in the country) of spare parts for this type of engine.

Being in close touch with many thousands of users through the medium of their effieient spares department at Walthamstow, and their large repair depots at North Road, London, N.7, and Holland Street, Manchester, they have naturally gained much valuable experience that has enabled them to introduce changes in this type of engine which, it is claimed, result in the more efficient and economical operation of A.E.C. lorries fitted with this type of power unit.

To enumerate a few instances where modifications have been made—the cylinder water jackets have been altered in design; screwed valve caps are now fitted, which minimize the breaking of valve ports and ensure absolutely gas-tight joints.

The crankshaft has been so drilled that more effective lubrication is assured and oil leakage is prevented. The design of the top water pipe has been stiffened on top to lessen the possibility of breakage occurring. Scraper rings have been fitted to the pistons, and the design of these pistons has also been considerably modified, by which means appreciable reductions in oil consumption have been obtained in all cases. All spare parts are manufactured from material of the highest quality and are covered by the company's usual six months' guarantee.

As can be readily imagined, the company do an enormous spare parts business, and one of our pictures shows A.E.C. lorries leaving the loading bank of the despatch department ; other illustrations give a good idea of the large stocks.

Further to help customers whose vehicles are in need of overhauling, the A.E.C. repair and service 'depots stock the following useful range of units for the A.E.C. 3, 4 and 5-ton lorries, which can be hired at nominal charges:— 14 JB4 engines, 3 gearboxes, 3 rear axles, 2 front axles, 2 sets of steering complete.

Further components, such as radiators, magnetos and clutch assemblies, etc., are loaned free while customers' own units are undergoing repair.

Finns are quick to appreciate this very material assistance, and great credit is due to the organization of the company for providing such excellent facilities, which help owners to maintain their vehicles at the highest point of efficiency.
