Lucas, mainly through the CAV group of companies, have replaced Crane Fruehauf as sponsor of Egon Ronay's Guide to Transport CaMs and Accommodation 1977. The 330 specialist agents in Britain for CAV parts and service are almost as numerous as the 430 transport cafés visited by the Egon Ronay inspectors.

washbasins, showers and toilets must be looked into.'" Better still they should be ignored by all, especially drivers.
The Egon Ronay team contrast the £27 charged in West End luxury hotels for single rooms without breakfast with the E2.70 charged for B and B at the exemplary 85-room Kernel Transport Hotel and Cafe at Newtown, West Midlands. A world apart too is the 12p for the excellent home-made lentil soup at the Flying Scotsman Café, Bankfoot, Tayside, and we know someone who's tasted it!
The DoE's civil servants get some stick for sanctioning and tolerating the "semi-official and monopolistic motorway cafés," which may save headaches for the civil service but "murder the civilised palate." Still, maybe after civil service tea they're not so bad.
