Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Stoke-on-Trent-based RG Bassett & Sons has added a new Daf 18-tonne rigid to its fleet of 45 vehicles to handle deliveries in the ST postcode area for Palletforce. The firm runs 80 trailers, including five double-deckers used for deliveries to the pallet network’s hub in the Midlands, and has vehicles ranging from 7.5 tonnes upwards. The new truck forms part of the company’s vehicle replacement programme to maintain “high standards of reliability”.

Volvo customer GRS Bagging has ordered six new Volvo FM11-450 tractor units. These are the first new Volvos for the bagged sand and gravel provider, which runs 55 artics, since it bought 20 18-monthold Volvo FM-430s three years ago. Commenting on the new trucks, which all have I-Shift transmissions, operations director Rick Faulkner said: “I’m a big fan of the I-Shift auto box. Since we moved from manuals, where a clutch would last as little as 12 months, only one of our used FMs has needed a clutch in three years.”

Mixer operator London Concrete has put four Volvos into service, taking its fleet to 86 mixers. The new vehicles, all Volvo FM11-370 8x4s with Liebherr 8m3 drums, are being leased through Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London on five-year repair and maintenance contracts, with some franchise drivers considering taking out seven-year contracts.

London-based Cappagh Group has ordered 20 new Scanias, adding to its 60-strong fleet. The tippers, which have a 19,500kg payload, consist of Boweld MightyLite steel bodies mounted on Scania 8x4 chassis, with Hyva’s ram and tank FC149 tipping cylinders. Operations manager Peter Freaney said: “The key things we want from our tippers are strength and reliability along with a competitive unladen weight. We want trucks that can do any job we put them to – day in, day out.”
