BARLBOROUGH. DERBSbased distribution firm Hastings Freight has taken its first steps to a green procurement policy.
Its new 7.5t Mitsubishi Canter, with a 1St payload, has been specified for city deliveries and collections.The increased payload (up by a tonne over regular Canter configurations) should reduce the miles travelled and the fuel used.
Proprietor Alan Hastings says: "The newsmaller vehiclesare much more manoeuvrable — making them ideal for Our collections and deliveries. particularly in and around Sheffield:The drivers are finding city centre collections and deliveries much easier to negotiate. and the vast capacity of the vehicles reduces our carbon emissions."
Hastings is a member of pallet network Palletways and handles around 3,500 pallets per week.
