Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

STRONG support by the National Coal Board and the National Union of Mine Workers was given at Leeds on Monday for an independent operator's attempt to run a week-end express coach from the South Yorkshire mining district to Durham.

The application of E. E. Hart Ltd., of Rossington Colliery, Yorkshire, was opposed by all the main Northern operators providing long-distance services.

Mr. E. Hall, for Hart, said that the application was one which resulted from the transfer of 360 miners to Yorkshire from Durham pits. They were allowed certain travel concessions by the National Coal Board and up to two coaches would be required, leaving Rossington on Friday night and returning from Durham on Sunday night after the men had spent the week-end with their families.

Mr. W. Kellher, Dodsworth branch secretary of the National Union of Mine Workers, said that present transport facilities were entirely unsuitable for the new men they were getting in the Yorkshire coal field.

The Traffic Commissioners' decision will be announced later.
