WE are not able to deal with many of the splendid transport achievements which Were accomplished during the period of the general strike, but one which is outstanding and indicates' the likely trend of developments is that of the East Surrey Traetion Co., Ltd., whose headquarters are at Reigate, Surrey. Although this company's drivers and conductors were called out by their Union, no stone was left unturned in an endeavour to maintain the services of the company. For this purpose many hundreds of volunteers placed their services at the disposal of the company, '406 heing actually given employment, and a few days afterthe Com
• mencerhent of the strike 100 per cent. of the services were working frena all 'depots midi dusk. The inSpectors, depot foremen and depot hands worked throughout the strike, as did' a certain number of clriVers and conductors.

duetors 'without notice, and they propose to set up machinery for dealing with any matters arising' 'between -the Management and its employees. The company are -naturally proud of their record of running a .100 per cent. `service while their men were out on ;strike and they appreciate the part played by volunteer workers and the members of the staff who. .remained They. have. not found it possible . to reinstate a considerable number of employees owing to the many volunteers requiring permanent employment.
