CM COVER STORY co.uk SKILLS FOR LOGISTICS (S11.) has succeeded in getting logistics on to the radar of 14to 16-year-olds through the development of logistics-related curriculum questions. Following trials with schools in Scotland and northern and eastern England, SfL's Made in China maths material will be available to schools nationwide from September.

Made in China is based around the journey of an iPod from its manufacture in China to the point of sale in the UK. John Bowman, head of skill at SfL, tells CM: "We wanted to get logistics into schools and after much evaluation decided that the best thing was to find a core subject that pupils cannot opt out of and one that teachers are desperate for interesting material for.

"As a way of learning maths. Made in China has gone down well — it's produced engaging maths material and enabled pupils to understand logistics better, which was our main motivation for developing it," he adds.

SfL is looking at developing something similar for 11-to 14-yearolds. based around geography.
