Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

JOHN RAYMOND TRANSPORT has seen its operating profit margin almost halve to just 1.3% due to a "challenging" economic environment.

The privately owned family business, based in Bridgend, south Wales, posted a pre-tax profit of just £12,000 on a £19.8m turnover for the year ended 30 September 2009.

This was a drop in profit of £247.000; operating prof ft fell by a similar amount to £259.000. However, despite tough trading conditions, the company, which has 235 employees, says it is proud that ff made very few redundancies during the period.

The directors' report states: "After almost six months of the new financial year, it is felt that the worst of the recession is behind us and there have been indications that trading will improve significantly.

"The forthcoming year will see the increased use of in-cab and office information technology, which will boost efficiencies and increase productivity." No-one from the company was available to comment.
