From a Special Correspondent

Tsecond round of talks between the UK

and Continental countries on bilateral transport agreements is now well under way. Following the talks with German delegates at the beginning of June, Ministry discussions with the Dutch authorities took place last week and other meetings are in the pipeline.

No major disagreements were encountered in the Dutch and German discussions but there are many details to be sorted out—notably vehicle weights and dimensions—and progress will be steady rather than spectacular. But it is hoped that a batch of bilaterals may be ready for actual signing early next year.

One factor, I understand, which was stressed by Continental delegates, particularly the Dutch, was the dearth of inland customs facilities in the UK and what was felt to be a general customs Inadequacy.

Loadstat Road Test: The price of the optional two-speed axle for the International Loadstar 1700 tractive unit was incorrectly given in the road test report, published in the June 24 issue, as £190. This should have been 1108.

New Name: Today (Friday) The AerographDeVilbiss Co. becomes The DeVilbiss Co. Ltd.
