ASELF-HEAT1NG soldering iron is manufactured by Jenolite, Ltd., 13-17 Rathbone Street, London, W.1. It is known as the Quik-Shot and would be invaluable for emergency soldering at breakdowns, for instance.

Heat is derived from a steel-jacketed cartridge which is inserted in a chamber inside the copper tip of the soldering iron. When this is ignited by pulling back and releasing a sprung striker in the stem of the iron, it quickly raises the temperature of the iron tip to 862° F. and .maintains

Sweet Smell AN air-purifying spray known as Choice and offered by Durazone (Sales), Ltd., London, N.16, would appear useful for freshening-up the interior of stuffy coaches.

The smell of the spray is said to be that of sweet peas and the compound, which is supplied in Aerosol form, contains a disinfectant to combat airborne germs.
