IT would have been against the-interests of the travelling public to defer a decision of the Eastern Traffic -Commissioners to allow an appellant coach operating company to redevelop" an acquired business.
This contention, made by Sir Maurice Holmes, Ministry of Transport inspector, who held an inquiry at Cambridge, in April, as a result of an appeal by Mulleys Motorways, Ltd., Bury St. Edmunds, against an award to H. C. Chambers and Son, Ltd., Bures, Suffolk, and 'Messrs. H. S. Theobald and Son, Long Melford, Suffolk, has been upheld by the Minister.
He considers that the Commissioners justifiably concluded that on occasions during 1958-59 Theobald and Chambers had been unable to carry all the passengers who wished to travel on their tours and excursions. The grant covered easements of restrictive conditions attached to their licences.
RIGHTS ACQUIRED
THE designs and manufacturing rights of Milners roller shutters have been acquired from Hall Engineering, Ltd., Speke, Liverpool, by Holts Shutters, Ltd.; Bradford. All existing contracts for Milners shutters will be comPleted.
