. inaugurated by Lytham St. Armes Corporation Transport on Sunday. They will use two veteran Leyland Titan. double-deck buses which they have converted to open-top types. They, will operate a five-mile round service.

Supplied to the municipality in 1937, the two Titan TD4C buses have each covered well over 800,000 miles on regular stage-carriage work. They are still powered by their original Leyland diesel engines and equipped with their original Leyland hydraulic torque converters.

Their 54-seat Metal-framed bodies, which were also built 23 years ago at Leyland, are reported to be in exceptionally good condition by the department's engineering staff, who' carried out the conversions.

One Titan has been recertified by the Ministry of Transport's certifying officer for a further three years and the other has been recertified until late 1962.

B.R.S. ACTION " UNJUST " A STATEMENT accusing the management of British Road Services of unjust treatment was issued last week by Mr. Joseph Davies, general secretary of the United Road Transport Workers' Association, after hearing that B.R.S. had refused to discuss at top level the suspension of their driver, Harold Clutton (The Commercial Motor, June 3). The Union have voted to try to change the disciplinary policy and procedure of B.R.S. by enlisting the aid of the B.R.S. National Staff Council.

NO NEW TROLLEYBUSES CARES increases of hi. on medium' distance routes and 2d. on long-distance routes with no changes for short journeys are proposed by the Bradford Transport Committee. They would partly offset the increase of £109,000 in the department's wages bill.

Departmental economies include a decision to buy no more new trolleybuses. Used ones are being acquired and refitted, which, it is claimed, will mean a large saving in loan charges.

A.A. RADIO NETWORK EXTENDED THE 24-hour radio breakdown service of the Automobile Association has now been extended to the whole of Cornwall, following the opening of a new office at Truro. Incorporating modern radio equipment, the new building represents part of the Association's large-scale development and modernization programme.
