THE versatility of the German Bossol appliance, described as "a portable service station," was demonstrated in London last iveek by the importers, the Beauship Trading and Shipping Co.,Ltd., 25 Savage Gardens, London, E.C.3.

Made by the Industria concern, of Dilsseldorf, the Bossol comprises a cabinet, mounted on wheels, incorporating a compressor driven from mains current. A range of accessories operated by air pressure or vacuum is provided.

The chief ancillary equipment is for rapid oil changing and pressure flushing of the crankcase. A wand is inserted into the crankcase through the dipstick hole or the oil-filler orifice. The wand is connected by a retracting hose to a glass container which is exhausted of air, and the contents of the sump are drawn into it.

' When flushing the crankcase, a dense foam can be created which, it is claimed, ensures that heavy foreign particles, which might not be got rid of by normalmeans, are extracted.

Other accessories are for tyre inflation, washing and vacuum cleaning, spraying paint and spring oil and sandcleaning sparking plugs. Only one accessory can be used at a time.

Without accessories, the Model DIA costs £125. The range of accessories costs £45 15s. complete, or individual items may be purchased separately.

The Bossol stands about 4 ft. 6 in. high, and although primarily intended as a handy piece of equipment for the public service station might also find application in the garages of small fleet owners with limited maintenance facilities. It might also represent a proposition for the owner-driver. A model with a greater waste-oil capacity is available.
