One of the oldest names in British truck manufacture. Dennis or, more correctly, Dennis-Eagle, has had a number of owners and component suppliers over the years. It now favours Volvo Euro 5i drivelines and SCR for its variety of 4x2, 6x4 and 6x2, mid-lift, mid-steer and rear-steer chassis with wide and narrow track options (the latter designed for restricted access operations).
The Elite 2 is aimed specifically at the municipal and contract refuse collection niche market, and to this end, Dennis-Eagle also supplies matching Phoenix, Beta, OnePass, Twin Pack and Duo bodies to around half its customers. The firm also offers a remanufacturing service, reflecting the vehicle's long life spans, and is also branching out into specialist recycling trucks. It recently has encountered a strong challenge from Mercedes-Benz Econic.
